Laser Eye Treatments at Australian Eye Care

At Australian Eye Care, Dr Goodrich offers a range of advanced laser procedures to treat various eye conditions and help preserve your vision. Laser treatment involves using a precisely focused beam of light to target specific eye structures, particularly the retina, with the aim of preventing vision loss and stabilising existing sight.

We commonly perform the following laser treatments onsite in our consulting rooms:

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)

SLT is a quick, gentle, and non-invasive laser procedure used to reduce intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. It is painless and typically takes less than five minutes, with pressure often improving within 1–3 days. The procedure can be safely repeated if necessary, as determined during follow-up consultations with Dr Goodrich.

YAG Laser Capsulotomy

After cataract surgery, the capsule that holds the intraocular lens can sometimes become cloudy, causing blurred vision. Dr Goodrich uses an Nd-YAG laser to create a small opening in this capsule, allowing light to pass clearly through to the retina, which improves vision quickly and with minimal discomfort.

Laser Photocoagulation (LPC)

LPC is used to treat a range of retinal conditions by sealing leaking or abnormal blood vessels. It is particularly effective in managing:

• Diabetic Eye Disease: Laser is used to stop leakage from blood vessels or prevent the growth of abnormal new vessels that can bleed and cause vision loss.

• Retinal Tears or Holes: Laser seals the retinal layers to prevent fluid from causing a detachment, which could lead to serious vision impairment.

• Macular Degeneration: In selected cases, laser is used to destroy abnormal blood vessels growing under the retina to stabilise central vision and prevent further deterioration.

All procedures are performed by Dr Goodrich in a comfortable, clinical setting with a focus on safety, precision, and preserving your current vision.
